Since its founding in 2016, NEVA has been growing into the creative platform it is today, under the artistic direction of Nina van der Zouwen and Melina Romano.
With NEVA starting out as an urban contemporary based dance company, they found themselves within a community of artists who were searching for rehearsal space, training possibilities and guidance to grow as professionals. Determined to provide what they were needing themselves, the first NEVA studio became reality in 2018. Starting off in a small office unit in the basement of the LOU Oudenoord building in Utrecht. Thanks to this physical space, the possibilities grew and so did the use of the studio. Two years later, NEVA was ready to expand and we moved into our dream home: Studio MONAD, an old bank building which we have converted to our very own creative space.
With multiple studio’s, a music room, office and a communal dining area we have found our studio to be a space for connection, interaction and development, where local talent is given the opportunity to train, work and grow together, using dance as a means. A place where we can spread empowerment and serve our community.
By opening our doors to our fellow community members, we embrace the opportunity of providing them with classes, training sessions and rehearsal space. Next to that, we want to support them in taking initiative and exploring leadership, giving them the chance to organise their own activities within a supportive atmosphere, such as classes and community events.
